The Items I Use For My Beard Routine:

  • Skincare

Do I care about my skin? Well, yeah. You've got to have a good base if you're going to be sprouting a healthy beard.  I've been using Caldera Lab's "The Good" for awhile now.  Not only is it good for routine skin care for beneath my beard, I also use it on the rest of my face.  It's been proven to reduce wrinkles as well as lighten dark spots and increase overall skin health.  That's probably why GQ called it the "holy grail of face serums".  Since they have a 60-day money-back guarantee, I gave it a shot and haven't looked back. Trust me, it's worth it.  My code SPARTAN15 for 15% off of your order will be automatically applied to your order.

  • Beard Trimmer

Get a clean fresh cut for your beard with the Brio Beardscape.  It has a titanium rake with a ceramic blade that makes trims effortless.  I previously used an off-the-shelf standard beard trimmer but am so glad that I got the Brio which is about the same price, or less,  that you'd spend on an inferior equivalent.  I coupled mine with the Pro Travel Case to keep everything organized more easily.  I can't say enough about my new favorite beard trimmer!

  • Cleaning

Keep your underlying skin and beard fresh with a soft-tipped brush.  This helps me clean my beard as well as exfoliate the skin under my beard easily.  While you can use a typical shampoo, I use products from Fable Beard Co. that are listed further down.  You can purchase this cleaning brush from Amazon using the link below:

  • Beard Wash

Regular cleansing of the roots of your beard hair follicles will help ensure healthy beard growth.  This beard wash does that without stripping away essential oils like a regular shampoo would do.  You should only shampoo your beard 2-3 times a week.  I will typically do a quick wash at the sink without shampoo after a particularly gluttonous meal.  I mean, no one wants to see barbecue sauce trapped in your beard or moustache.  Also, get the conditioner with the matching scent!  My favorite is "The Inventor" Citrus Cologne scent. • Styling

While you can use heated beard straightening brushes, I have found them to be lacking for the most part.  For all beard size, I recommend using the proper amount of beard oil as well as a small round brush like the one picture below.  Blow drying on low at the high heat setting will help you curl or straighten your beard. The heat reacts with the metal of the brush and the oil acts as an activator of sorts to not only provide a smooth sheen but allows for greater shaping options.  Get the brush below, you won't regret it:

  • Beard Oils, Balms & Mustache Wax

I have partnered with Fable Beard Co. as I have had great success with their product line.  Their beard oils smell great with my favorite being the cologne scent.  They have something that will fit the pickiest of beardsmen.  Be sure to add the necessary beard balm of the same scent for a medium hold throughout the day.  You wouldn't want to spend all of that time on beard shaping to lose the appearance to the occasional gust now would you?  Use CODE: SPARTAN15 for 15% off of your order.  Check out Fable Beard Co. below:

  • Shaping/Styling

I use this for both my hair and beard out of convenience really.  Phenomenal has a sturdy, soft hold that will allow me to hand-shape if needed in the middle of the day without the need to revisit the container.  For those that may want to go "all-in" on everything beard and are looking for a lighter hold, look at the beard balm at Fable Beard Co. above!

  • Beard Pen

Sometimes it's tough to keep your beard in check in between barber visits.  One of the things that I like is a clean beard line, especially if the wife and I are going out at night.  I found this on Amazon and love the way that it not only helps create a clean line but can also be used as a fill-in on any weak spots on my beard.  Easy to use and the results are immediate.  Definitely recommended.

  • Shaving Razor

For clean lines and an old-school appeal, there's no beating Baxter of California's safety razor for that awesome smooth-face feeling.  Multi-blade razors make it harder to maintain a clean beard line, that's why Baxter is my go-to.  It has a great balanced feel and blade changing is a snap.  It is possible to use a straight-razor for an even more old-school feel, however, the benefits are not as apparent unless you're the one being shaved by someone else.

  • Shaving Brush

There's nothing quite like the feel of a nice shaving brush filled with warm lather on a cold winter's morning. Although the brush is soft, it works up a great lather for even application.  I've enjoyed using this for years and it technically will never need to be replaced as long as you rinse it out and hang it to dry after each use.

  • Shaving Cream

Working up a great warm lather is the best feeling on a man's face...well, you know what I mean.  I love the bourbon scented Art of Shaving cream.  It works up a great lather and really helps for me to get that close shave where it's needed most.  I'm sure that you are your significant other will love the feeling and the scent.
